Physical Distancing

During the era of COVID-19, the shift from saying ‘social’ to ‘physical’ is an important one. The word ‘physical’ reminds us that we aren’t against each other: We are in this together. The World Health Organization has officially changed the wording from ‘social distancing’ to ‘physical distancing’ in order to communicate the importance of maintaining and seeking out social connection while maintaining a physical distance, for now.

Here are some ideas on how to keep a sense of connection with other people in general even while we’re physical distancing:

  1. Eye contact is healthy!

  2. Good energy is sent through a smile or head nod when passing by people we don’t know

  3. 6ft of space is the new sign of respect

  4. Consider saying ‘physical distancing versus ‘social distancing’
