The future of company structures

I was first introduced to the idea of a Teal organization when I started working at The Renewal Workshop. TRW is the leading provider of circular solutions for apparel and textile brands. Since they have built the company from the ground up, they chose to build upon the new organizational paradigm called Teal; as any company that’s interested in evolving forward should do.

A Teal organization is an emerging organizational paradigm that advocates a level of consciousness including all previous world views within the operations of an organization. When applied to organizations, this paradigm views the organization as an independent force with its own purpose, and not merely as a vehicle for achieving management's objectives[1]. Teal is based upon Self-management, wholeness, evolutionary purpose. Because these practices are so new, the conversation around what they are and how to implement them is ongoing, worth researching and discussing.

My question is: Will the new cannabis industry adopt Teal practices into their new companies? The cannabis industry is creating itself at this very moment. What a unique opportunity! For an industry that is full of people that have fought for this plant’s right to be out of the shadows and away from oppression or punishment, why would any cannabis company want to operate under old practices that resemble ‘command authority’? i.e. Churches, Military, Government and the Patriarchy

As we all know, evolution goes on with or without us. So I wonder, will cannabis companies (or any company new or old) choose the ‘command and control’ of the past? Or will they choose the higher purpose driven paradigm of the future?
